Apps are used by both large and small companies to track expenses, create a catalog of employees, organize internal processes, adapt and train, work with clients, improve service quality, and increase brand awareness.

Many companies use ready-made software, but every year more and more businesses are looking for customized solutions, leading them to create their own mobile apps.

Why Your Business Needs a Mobile App

Mobile apps allow you to:

  • Increase brand awareness
  • Boost sales
  • Establish marketing and communication channels
  • Optimize business processes
  • Increase customer loyalty
  • Gain a competitive advantage
  • Collect information for further analysis

These tools significantly increase efficiency when it comes to performing routine tasks. Employees who use apps are 21% more productive than those who don’t.

Popular Types of Business Apps

Online Marketing and Sales

These apps allow you to sell or buy goods, book accommodation or transportation, track shipments, and communicate with customers. Examples include Banggood,, and Mailchimp.

Exchange files and messages, make video calls, set up conference calls, and collaborate. Examples: Skype for Business, ZOOM Cloud Meetings, and Microsoft Teams.

Office Packages

Designed to make it easier to work with text documents, spreadsheets and presentations, as well as simplify gaining access to files. Examples: Google Sheets, Adobe Scan, and Office Suite Pro.

Task Management

These apps allow you to track a project’s progress and determine which employee is working on what. Examples: Todoist, Microsoft To Do, and Google Tasks.

Powerful tools for improving personal and professional productivity. They help the user manage their time, organize workflows, and increase concentration. Examples: Trello, Slack, and Asana.

Before deciding what kind of app you will create, you need to conduct a business analysis to identify the needs of your team and your potential customers. Choose a solution that users will want.

Advantages of Using an App Builder

The app builder is a platform that provides a quick and easy way to create fully featured mobile apps without needing to code or know UX/UI design and backend development.

No coding

An app can be created without a single line of code, just a graphic interface. The workspace is drag-and-drop.

You don't have to be a designer

Preset templates allow you to create and customize the user interface without knowledge of graphic editors or design trends. It can also easily be adapted to Android and iOS.

Creating a business app with the app builder is many times cheaper than hiring a team of specialists, setting up your own IT department, and spending money on support and maintenance.

Fast Results

Using templates can significantly reduce development time, which is extremely important for those who don’t want to wait a week, month, or year to have a finished product.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

The application can easily be adapted to any platform, whether it’s Android, iOS, Mac, or Windows.

How to Create an App for Your Business

1. Decide what type of app you want

Choose the app template that best fits your idea and then customize it to fit your business needs.

2. Choose its features

Customize your content using a library of ready-made features and functions. Add only what you need specifically for your app.

3. Brand it

Add a logo, name, corporate colors, company information, contact information, upload photos, and provide descriptions of your services and products.

4. Choose a monetization model

Not only can mobile apps meet the needs of a business, they can also bring in a good income through monetization.

Popular monetization models:

  • Embedded Advertising. The app is free, but has built-in advertising that is periodically shown to the user. This is the most popular monetization method. As of January 2022, 38% of apps contained embedded ads.
  • Freemium. As a rule, a Freemium app has a set of basic free features, and a set of additional paid features.
  • Paid Apps. Payment is required to access the app, and the developer profits from each new user. A paid app should have killer features that are impossible to resist.
  • Subscription. The app can be downloaded for free and has a set of basic functions. To gain access to the full functionality or built-in products, the user pays a fee for a certain period of use: a week, a month, or a year.

5. Publish your app

Regardless of whether you're developing an app yourself, hiring a team of professionals, or using a builder platform, the publishing process on Google Play and the App Store is always the same.

How to upload an app to the store:

  1. Register a developer account. Go to the developer console and provide some basic information about yourself. Read and accept the Software Distribution Agreement. A Google Developer Account requires a one-time payment of $25. For the App Store, a developer account will cost $100, annually. Plus, you'll have to set up an App ID and a Distribution Certificate.
  2. Fill out the information about your app. Enter a name up to 30 characters long. Add a short description up to 80 characters, and a long description up to 4000 characters.
  3. Upload images. Add an icon in JPEG or PNG format; upload screenshots and advertising banners.
  4. General information and privacy policy. Fill out the form, add information about the privacy policy so that users know exactly how you will handle their data.
  5. Testing. You have several options with this. You can hand the file over to professional testers, upload it to the server, or conduct your own beta testing on the marketplace itself.
  6. Moderation. Upload the application file. Wait for the verification to complete, which can take up to 7 days.

To successfully pass moderation, you need to comply with a number of requirements. You can check them out here for Google Play and here for the App Store.
